Bhaja Govindam – Sloka 33: Bhaja Govindaṁ Bhaja Govindam
After thirty-three verses of reflection, where does the journey finally lead us?
In this final episode of Hari Kavi Explains – Bhaja Govindam, we reflect on the thirty-third sloka, which brings us back to the central message with which the journey began: Bhaja Govindam — seek Govinda, remember the Divine.
Through the preceding verses, Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya has guided us through the impermanence of wealth, youth, relationships, possessions, and worldly achievement. He has spoken about desire and attachment, self-inquiry and discipline, the importance of the Guru, the company of the wise, and the realization of the Divine within.
In this concluding verse, the teaching returns to its essence. Remembrance of the Divine and meditation become the means by which the seeker moves beyond the ocean of worldly existence.
There is also a beautiful sense of completion here. The words “Bhaja Govindam”, with which this spiritual journey began, return once again at its conclusion—bringing the teaching full circle.
This episode marks the completion of our exploration of all 33 slokas of Bhaja Govindam in English.
The journey through the verses may be complete, but their invitation remains: to reflect, to inquire, to practice, and ultimately to discover the truth within ourselves.
