Kāla in Indian Philosophy: More Than the Clock
In Advaita Vedanta, Kāla (Time) is not merely chronological measurement. It is:
• The principle of change
• The agent of decay
• The force that converts being into becoming
• The mask through which Maya operates
Time is what makes:
• Youth turn into age
• Strength into weakness
• Attachment into grief
• Life into death
In Bhaja Govindam, Shankaracharya does not explain Kāla academically.
He demonstrates it mercilessly, verse by verse.
